CORES
Every pair of skis contains our signature laminated wood core, handcrafted in our Jindabyne factory.
Alpine Ash are amongst some of tallest trees on Earth. Their straight, flexible grain makes the perfect backbone for a ski core. We use three Alpine Ash stringers perfectly sized to match any binding mount ensuring you stay firmly in contact with the heart of your ski.
These heavy duty stringers are balanced with lightweight, Australian grown Paulownia. Each core is book matched ensuring every pair of skis contains wood from the same trees, to give the same flex and feel to both skis.

SIDEWALLS
Oversized Jarrah sidewalls are seriously awesome. Found only in the southwest of Australia, Jarrah is naturally moisture and rot-resistant. It's 25% harder than Maple and 15% harder than Bamboo. Desert Skis are the only skis out there with Jarrah sidewalls.
Because we like gear that can take abuse, we oversize the sidewalls to 2 or 3 times the width of industry standard, providing solid support for your edges when things get sketchy. This stuff is tough as nails and can take a beating when you decide to ski something spicy and find a few hidden surprises.

COMPOSITES
We love keeping it local, so we sourced Aussie-made triaxial fiberglass and resin to give your skis the perfect combo of strength without weighing you down. It’s got the responsiveness and liveliness you want, whilst balancing flex and dampness. This dynamic duo keeps your skis flexing and bouncing back for years of good times.

EDGES
Each ski has a single full-wrap edge, no small feat! Most skis will have edges in two pieces because full-wrap construction is tough to pull off. This stuff is difficult to work with and takes time to bend into the perfect shape, but worth the effort. Our edges are tough enough to handle those times you find yourself brushing against the wall of a tight couloir because you were too chicken to straight line. More durability, better edge hold and extra confidence when you need it.
